England 1997

December 18, 1997 – Day 5

Traveling

We’re up at 5:30am… ick! We have breakfast in the parlor at 6:00am and are leaving Skibo by 6:30am. What a great time we’ve had… 🙂

But, it’s not over yet!

We arrive at Inverness station in time to catch the train from Scotland back down to England. We have a nice ride, napping and talking and eating (what else!), along the way. When we reach Peterbrough, we grab our bags and jump off… well… actually, the train stops and we step off, but you get the idea!  Doive (!) meets us with the van. We load up and hit the road for the two hour drive to Stratford and Alcester! I’m staying at the King’s Court Hotel again. As a matter of fact, I’m in the exact room I was in a year ago! All seems familiar here! Good ol’ Room 53!

After a short nap, the Edwards’ pick me up for dinner. We go to the Stratford Moat House International, but little do we realize what the evening has in store!

Being that it is so close to Christmas, lots of offices and workplaces are having their Christmas Dinner parties. We are lucky enough to get a table in the middle of several such celebrations! There are Christmas poppers, hats, balloons, etc. on all of the tables. Silliness soon takes over as we don our little paper crowns, pop the poppers, and Mark starts a “balloon war” with other tables… and blames everything on me!

And you thought the English were “stuffy”!

Dinner is yummy, and afterwards we fire off a few more balloon salvos. The disco warms up and we work off some of the food. It was great fun… even if they do like dancing to (shudder) ABBA!!!
