Operation Overlord/D-Day – June 6, 1944

by Jun 6, 2013

Take some time today to remember those brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice as part of the D-Day Normandy invasion in World War II.

“This operation is not being planned with any alternatives. This operation is planned as a victory, and that’s the way it’s going to be. We’re going down there, and we’re throwing everything we have into it, and we’re going to make it a success.”

–General Dwight D. Eisenhower

Approaching Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944
All gave some, some gave all.

Remember the beaches…

Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, Sword…

remember Pointe Du Hoc.

Remember them all…

and thank them in your silent hearts…

just for a moment…

for they saved your world that day.

“As our boat touched sand and the ramp went down, I became a visitor to hell.”
