Take a walk on the wild side!

Today’s a “Henry Day”, so we head south to the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Garden.

Don’t get me wrong – we had a grand time! But this is one of Henry’s favorite places, and since everyone was so patient with me yesterday, it was a pleasure to return the favor!  The drive down, as always, is pleasant through the Cotswolds countryside and we arrive in no time at all.

Walking in and getting our bearings, Henry knows immediately which way to go to see the penguins! This is followed in quick succession by visits to the meerkats and the prairie dogs!

Walking through the small animal exhibits (various primates and birds), I’m struck by how beautiful the garden areas are, with some really unusual (to me) flowers!

But, the star attraction of the day for Henry is and will always be the miniature train!

Waiting on the track in anticipation is part of the fun … but hearing the whistle in the distance and seeing it come around the bend received an excited jumping-up-and-down reaction.

It was a nice ride around the park – getting to see some of the other animal exhibits, but Henry had more fun waving to all of the people along the tracks.  They were there to see him go past, don’t you know?

But soon enough – we were back at the station and it was time to move along… to a quick lunch!  A very cool fountain sculpture was a great photo op for me, but it was heading off to the farm exhibit and small animals that was high on Henry’s list… so, away we went!

After that, and giving John a bench break, Marianne, Henry, and I head off to the giraffes – casually passing zebras and rhinos along the way.  He loved how tall they were, and the park had a great wooden walkway to get you up to “head level” to see them up close.

A wonderful “flakey” snack and waving at the passing train again wrapped up a fun day.
