Another early start, but again ends up being *VERY* worth it. We’re taking a catamaran cruise up the famous Na Pali Coast on the western edge of Kaua’i.
The incredible mountains and cliffs plunging right down to the ocean have been used in many movies, including “King Kong”, “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “Star Wars”, “Jurassic Park”, “Six Days, Seven Nights”, and others.
We’re all pretty excited to go…
Mel gives one of the crew a special treat:
Along the way (scenery coming in a minute!!!!), we see dolphins (LOTS OF THEM) and sea turtles. I got a few good pictures and an even more spectacular video of a few of the dolphins actually jumping out of the water and spinning in the air!!! Again… when I have that captured/edited, I’ll post it.
Okay… scenery!!! Again, these pictures don’t do the “real thing” justice, but if you want to see *all* of my coastal pics, they’re here.
We stopped for about an hour or so and got to snorkel in the crystal clear water… the depth was about 40 feet and you could see *ALL* the way down. The fish were *EVERYWHERE*!!!!
At our anchor point, there was an ancient lava tube visible in the cliff face:
Andrew and my sister-in-law got to go diving.
They said the visibility was easily 70-100 feet, and they saw tons of cool stuff.
Andrew took the dive case and camera, and his pictures are here.
It was an amazing day… and at the end, Melanie gets a little going-away present from the crew:
